Data preparation utility

Database Ingestion Toolkit

Bring files with different schemas into a local database through a desktop interface designed to make ingestion easier to inspect.

01

Make the destination understandable

The utility responds to a practical analyst need: files from different sources need structure, and the person importing them needs to understand where the resulting database lives. The interface brings that step into the workflow.

02

Let the analyst describe the file

I specified a desktop workflow with configurable header and data-start rows, hierarchical headers, multiple-key selection and an automatic-key option. Output-location control made the database destination visible. Those requirements aimed to accommodate inconsistent input files without making the analyst change source spreadsheets.

03

Keep the prototype’s status clear

Recovered Abacus development records include the requirements, AI-assisted Python implementation and tentative local-use feedback. Accepted database outputs, comprehensive data-quality checks and sustained operational use were not recovered, so this remains a prototype.

Scope & evidence

Recovered source and archive discussion support a prototype. Full data-quality coverage and sustained production operation were not established.
